Anyone know any places you can legally park a car overnight on the Harpeth and not have to worry about it getting broken into or anything ?

The state areas won't let you park overnight, at least it is posted on the sign at The Narrows and at Newsom's Mill.

Want to do an overnight trip without messing with the outfitters if possible.

Also any recommended camping spots ?

Never did stay the night on the river, wound up camping at Montgomery Bell State Park and floating 2 day trips.

Montgomery Bell is pretty close and has a nice campground so it makes for a nice trip. $20 a night with elec. & water or $10 if you are a state employee like myself..
