I have been on the Buffalo with Crazy Horse's trip from CH to Slink Shoals on several occasions. I was wondering if anyone had any insight and comparrisons to other sections of the river. Am I missing out on something? Are the other sections great, but not great this far into the year? I recently found this site and realized the wealth of info about the upper sections and maybe even below Slink and can't help but wonder what the other stretches are link. Thanks for your time and info.

Hello Sean. I too am new to the site and there is a lot of great info here. I can not speak to the upper or middle sections of the river but have floated different parts of the lower section for years. I plan to float the upper and middle section for the first time in the coming weeks. I define the lower section as anything below the mouth of Short Creek in Linden.
I can tell you that the river is very nice below the TWRA ramp in Linden but a little slower. There are parts near Lobelville that require a little work, gets wide and deep. Bluffs of limestone tower and overhang the river in many places much like I am sure it does in the other sections. The flow is probably better in the upper and middle sections but lots of seclusion (which I prefer) in the lower reaches of the Buffalo. No commercial outfits below Buffalo Camping and Canoeing near I-40 and unless you plan to take out somewhere on the Duck River or Bakerville Bridge you have no options but private land holders.
Welcome to the site.
I look forward to exploring the upper and middle sections in the next couple of weeks. I'd love to hear from some folks who've paddled them in the last few days.
