I posted earlier in a post that my wife and I went this past Monday to the Buffalo. Previously it has been probably 8 years but I was an avid canoeist for several prior. I can’t fathom law enforcement in the trees. Pot smoking is illegal though. I am not against it. In the late seventies; my wife and I smoked enough for all of us but we started having kids and I work in the public sector hence drug screens. My wife and I certainly aren’t nudists but on occasions I/we do like to slip some clothes off. It’s our freedom as long as we don’t impose on any one else and are discreet; however it is illegal also. The beauty and serenity of the Buffalo requires neither Pot smoking, drinking Etoh or some nudity for its enjoyment. The biggest problem I see is what others have written about above me. Trash, Garbage, Litter or 1-800 you could care less about others. The Buffalo River is expendable. What we enjoy is being taken away by those who care little about their surroundings while on the river. If we picked up the litter we saw this last trip; we would need a barge not a 16 foot canoe to remove all. Have a blessed day dave

Had a great time at the Buffalo this past Monday; much welcome breaks for my wife and I. The water level was 5.1 hence I knew it would be less dragging canoe and I was right. The people at Crazy Horse were super and we put in there. It has been too many years since I have been canoeing. My ear drums have been perforated so many times from loud noises and water pressure changes; I was told at VA to only get close to water with cotton and plugs in my ear and not to swim unless I go ahead and have surgery. What do they know? You can only keep a spec-ops guy and former Navy Seal from the water for X amount of time. I put the plugs in and went for it. It felt so good to get back to water and nature. It’s bound to have knocked 12 points of my BP and no kids or grandkids. Wow! The traffic was very sparse so we did a little clothing optional canoeing for a short period of time. It seemed to offend no one but we did it sparingly. We will be returning soon. I would love to study the geological aspects of the Buffalo. I am familiar with the fauna along its course and of course safety and canoeing. If anyone is wanting to canoe along that section or any area of rivers in West TN please feel free to e-mail me. I am a full time ER Nurse and Firefighter but I can make time for “Operation De-stress”; canoeing. Do need a little notice Have a blessed day Dave
