I'm looking for anyone who knows anything about different sections of the Duck River..
I went and looked at the Duck back in the summer at a take-out mentioned from someone who does camping trips on the Duck and the water was murky, muddy (not my cup of tea for paddling) and there hadn't been any rain so I figure that is how it normally stays.. This is pretty close to Hwy. 13 and Loretta Lynn's and not far from where it dumps into Kentucky Lake / TN. River. I know the Duck is a state scenic river in Maury county so I figure it is clear running upstream at some point.
My question is, does anyone know how far upstream before it is clear ?
Does anyone know what it looks like at Centerville for example ?
I wanted to figure out a trip on the Duck closer to home than the Columbia / Maury Co. area.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks - Terry

I live between chapel hill and columbia right by hardison mill on the duck and let me tell you its very scenic but its all murky all the time the duck is never crystal clear.
my favorite paddle is from hardison mill to carpenters bridge its very scenic and has more flowing spots than any of the other paddles .
almost all of the duck needs to be done in a long touring kayak or canoe its very slow moving and requires lots of paddling.
i have been from shelbyville to the brige all the way down by monsanto lake and its all close to the same type of water/scenery imo.
hope this helps some
