Had a great time at the Buffalo this past Monday; much welcome breaks for my wife and I. The water level was 5.1 hence I knew it would be less dragging canoe and I was right. The people at Crazy Horse were super and we put in there. It has been too many years since I have been canoeing. My ear drums have been perforated so many times from loud noises and water pressure changes; I was told at VA to only get close to water with cotton and plugs in my ear and not to swim unless I go ahead and have surgery. What do they know? You can only keep a spec-ops guy and former Navy Seal from the water for X amount of time. I put the plugs in and went for it. It felt so good to get back to water and nature. It’s bound to have knocked 12 points of my BP and no kids or grandkids. Wow! The traffic was very sparse so we did a little clothing optional canoeing for a short period of time. It seemed to offend no one but we did it sparingly. We will be returning soon. I would love to study the geological aspects of the Buffalo. I am familiar with the fauna along its course and of course safety and canoeing. If anyone is wanting to canoe along that section or any area of rivers in West TN please feel free to e-mail me. I am a full time ER Nurse and Firefighter but I can make time for “Operation De-stress”; canoeing. Do need a little notice Have a blessed day Dave

Sounds like you had a great trip. There is another very good trip that is not very crowded just off Natches Trace. As soon as I replace my recently wrecked Jeep I Will be headed that way.

The access point is Metal ford pic nic area on Natchez trace. There are sveral good take outs for different length trips. there is a good put in up from Metal Ford and paddling back to metal ford for the take out.
