next wensday and thursday i will be paddling the red river and harpeth... i will use a livery for a shuttle on the red but was thinking of just doing the narrows on the harpeth allthough i was not ruling out a livery trip there as well.. i havent been on either river and would welcome any suggestions on what are must see places in the area / where the best place to camp / and so forth... i will be bringing my argosy canoe ...

i paddled both rivers in one day last wed. and had a good time.. the people at the rd river canoe livery said it was a 12.5 mile trip but i feel the trip was probably under 10 river miles.the put in at the harpeth narrows was difficult but the 5mile mile loop was scenic and enjoyable. there were not many on either river that day as it was a hot and humid day.. i was planning on camping and going to the duck river on thursday but because of the heat and the fact that i had not got caught up on the chores,i chose to return home wed evening instead...the water levels were a lil low but i didnt scrape bottom much or had to get out and walk.i was disappointed that i didnt charge my camera batteries and my spares were dead as well so i missed a few good foto opps..ive picked out a coupla more floats id like to do in tenn. next trip but will save that for a later posting..

Sounds like a good day paddling. How much down time did you have between the two rivers in transport? I've never done any paddling on either but want to do a couple different sections of the Harpeth and Caney Fork in the fall.
