A friend and I are planning a trip on the Harpeth river in early May. We are planning on camping at the campground located at the mouth of the Harpeth on a Friday night, Getting up Saturday and going to the Harris St BR (the Narrows) and spending all day paddling back to the campground, It will be a 20 mile trip but it is a easy trip and we will be staying Saturday night as well. For those not wishing to camp we will post a time time to meet at the Harris St. Bridge.
Anyone that would like to join us is more then welcome.

Sorry for the delay. You might want to try Fikes Mill to Gordon Ferry Br. 16 miles /Hwy 50 bridge at Centerville to Beaver Dam Creek at Hwy 50 22 miles. If you have a TN Atlas & gazetteer you can find these places on page 35.
Hope this helps.

That would be a good overnight trip. I have paddled around Centerville and around where it goes into Kentucky lake, Was there this Sat morning 11 Aug from day light until about 11am. It started to get very hot and there was no breeze. If you get to make the trip you should consider taking out at the boat ramp at Paint Rock RD and Bakerville RD, The refuge is closed for road constuction. ther is another bost ramp at Sycamore Landing right the mouth of the duck.

Up stream from the 13 bridge does get shallow it is best in early summer, but can be done later in the summer but you might have to get out at a couple of shallow places. The creek can change a lot over the winter and so far this year I have only paddled up from the boat ramp, Watch for trees and stumps they get moved around a lot I there has been a lot of rain. It is a nice quiet ride with lots of wild life to see.

There is a swimming hole at the hwy 13 bridge that gets a lot of use. I would not worry about my vehicle there. The land on both sides of the creek are private property until you get close to the boat ramp, but if you stay close to the creek nobody generaly will bother you. I have put in at the intersection of 49@46, ther is another place called tatum's that I have put in at also. Ellis Mills RD runs along the creek and there are several places to access the creek, these are all up river from the 13 bridge.

Yellow cr runs into the cumberland river near cumberland city in stewart co. Also with in a few miles is Wells CK and Guicess CK. They are real big but there is no problem canoeing them until late summer if it has been dry, There will be a few shallow places you might have to get out and pull your boat over. There is not very many people that canoe them, there are a few swimming holes that are easy to get to from the road and on a hot summer day there will be quite a few people there.

I like to paddle the harpeth, yellow ck. and the duck. Would like to try and do the ghost section of the wolf this summer. I also spend a lot of time paddling on KY lake ,Barkely, Cheatham. Sounds like there could be some good paddles in the future.

I do believe most of the liveries are closed this time of year. Depending on what part of the Harpeth you plan on doing I might be able to help you out.

Most of the creeks and rivers arournd close are pretty tame during normal flow. If you have moderate skill level you should be alright.

A freind of mine was on the Caney fork river this summer, and he said he seen a lot of fish but could not get them to bite. There is supposed to be good smallmouth and trout fishhing.
The Caney fork river comes out of Center Hill lake.
