We will meet at Crazy Horse the morning of 5 Sept ( labor day weekend). Those who would like to join us are more then welcome. This is a long trip so be sure you are ready.

The access point is Metal ford pic nic area on Natchez trace. There are sveral good take outs for different length trips. there is a good put in up from Metal Ford and paddling back to metal ford for the take out.

There are several put ins up river from crazy horse that are actually nicer nd not near as crowed. A couple of weekends ago we did 20 miles starting at Sickler Rd and taking out at Crazy Horse. The weekend before we put in off Natchez Trace and toe out at Sickler Rd for a 13 mile trip. there are plenty of access points for shorter trips on the upper part of the river, With a lot less people.

Sounds like you had a great trip. There is another very good trip that is not very crowded just off Natches Trace. As soon as I replace my recently wrecked Jeep I Will be headed that way.

You might try Canoe the Sequatchie Canoe rental - 423-949-4400. I have not been down there for several years but they used to offer a shuttle service.

There will be a lot excitement on 20 June with two groups doing the Piney that day. One group on the upper and a group going back down the lower. Should be a fun day on the river.

We are going to make this trip this time. A couple of friends and myself will be at the campground early Friday 5 June. The campsite are 9 $ and they have water and Electricity. But there is no shower house. there is a great Restaurant near by for catfish dinner.

The Piney is a great little river. On 30 May a group of us are going to put in at Vernon and paddle down the Piney to the Duck. It is a13 mile trip.

The river has been dropping fast and it is looking to be a great weekend to make this trip. A couple of us will be at the campground Friday morning to do a little paddling and fishing.

The river is high but is dropping. Hopefully it will drop enough to still make this trip but right now it could go either way it all depends on how much rain we get the next day or two from the current storms. I will have a positive answer by Wednesday morning.

Jack sorry about the delay in answering. It was a great trip. There was about 10 of us and we had good time. the water was just high enough for us to paddle to the pool on the back side of the tunnel. I know it is a long drive for you and hard to plan but come back when you can.
